Devon Cliffs is regarded as Haven's Flagship site with it's beautiful Private Sandy Beach, with an easy sloped access down from the cliff top and there is plenty of things to keep both Children and Adults entertained but as I'm honest and would make a terrible diplomat, these activities come at a price. As a Private Guest you would need to purchase a Pass, this would allow you to purchase activities. Yes, I know that sounds mad but it's Havens way, so to start this page of I'll tell you about what you can do for FREE once inside the Park. Safety First, so please check TIDE TIMES before walking along the beach to Exmouth > www.tideschart.com/United-Kingdom/England/Devon/Budleigh-Salterton/
Check out the latest activity opens 27th May. Haven gives you the TUBE SLIDE. ;-)
To begin with there is this beautiful sandy beach, which during the Summer Months is patrolled by Lifeguards. Alternatively search for among the rock pools but check the tide times. Dogs are not allowed on this beach between 1st May and 30th September but there are plenty of other places to exercise them. Don't forget your bucket and spades, although you will find Dragon's Offspring has a couple you can use. There's is also a windbreak and the chairs on the decking which can be taken to the beach.
If you are feeling energetic and want to enjoy a spectacular view, then take a walk along the Cliff Path past Otter Cove (no access to the beach) to Budliegh Salterton. It's not for the faint hearted and although it's just over two miles there are some steep inclines and in places it's rough underfoot. Mind you it's worth going just a couple of hundred yards along the path to enjoy the view. You could also walk along the Cliff Path and head west along to Exmouth and the most sumptuous Ice Creams you will find anywhere. They are well worth the walk and you can always catch the bus back to the Park as there is a regular bus service which terminates right by the Park Complex.
Now where else would you want to purchase a drink and a bite to eat and still enjoy the view. This is the South Beach Bar/Restaurant and Play Area. Situated at the top of the cliff right at the start of the sloping path down to the beach. You don't need a Haven Pass to relax here.
Next to South Beach Restaurant is the shop which sells buckets and spades, fishing nets besides snacks, drinks and treats, and we all like a treat when on holiday.
Right up close to the Complex is this extravaganza of Play Equipment, with plenty of the kids to climb, swing, dig and get sand in their hair, mouth, well if you have children you've already been there. It's also FREE.
Now on to the serious stuff you will have to have purchased a Play Pass either for or to enter. For those relaxing lunch times, afternoons, early evenings, ok anytime you fancy a drink or a meal (I understand they even do a cooked breakfast) there is the Mash & Barrell on the edge of the complex.
Food can be eaten inside or out, and a special netting has been erected to protect diners from the ever hungry gulls. Please don't be tempted to feed them as they can be quite a frightening experience for any unwary person who receives their attention while eaten their lunch.
For the following activities and for the Entertainment Shows you will need to purchase a Play Pass. As you can see these can add some cost to your holiday as besides Swimming which is included in the price of the Pass, everything else has an additional cost. So you have been warned.
As I come across other activities in the Park and take photos I will add them to this page. I'm still exploring and I've been here a while now.
